MANAGEMENT ASPECTS OF AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION IN THE MODERN CONTEXT

This article addresses a pertinent and widely discussed scientific and practical issue in the contemporary development of agriculture: What are the key aspects of managing agricultural production within current realities? It characterizes management as a specific type of activity and provides a detailed analysis of the unique features inherent to agricultural production management. These include substantial dependence on natural conditions, seasonal production cycles, and the specificity of agricultural production, where living organisms—plants and animals—constitute the primary objects of production. Additionally, most agricultural products are highly perishable or prone to rapid degradation in their consumer properties. The study also highlights that many agricultural products require further processing, which significantly influences the management process. The article emphasizes that agricultural production is a cornerstone of national security. However, it notes that current organizational and management levels in agriculture do not align with the challenges posed by the market economy, thereby adversely affecting the sector's overall efficiency. A key issue at this stage of management system advancement is the lack of seamless integration between novel organizational forms of production and management and their substantive implementation. The focus is placed on enhancing managerial practice as one of the most pressing priorities to stabilize enterprises within the market and promote their economic growth. Furthermore, the study underscores that managerial practices in agricultural production are influenced by various factors, including socio-political structures, ownership types, and sector-specific characteristics of the agrarian economy. The paper examines the distinctive attributes of agriculture as an industry, which directly shape the specificity of managerial cycles and professional activities. These attributes are tied to the execution of universal, standard, and specialized functional roles by management professionals. It further explains that agricultural enterprise management is implemented through appropriate methodological tools encompassing information systems, analysis, goal-setting, planning, organization, operational leadership, and control mechanisms.
